The first Fun run event was in 1993. The past years there have been over 3.500-4.000 runners each year.
The Fun Run starts at 12:00 pm (GMT) and you can choose whether you run 3 km or the shorter distance of 1.7 km during the start.
This is an event for all ages and is filled with entertainment along the route.
Work is underway on updating a new race route. A route description and map will be available soon. All distances finish on Geirsgata.
The Course
The Fun Run consists of two distances, 1.4 km and 3 km. Both distances start on Sæmundargata and finish on Geirsgata by Reykjavík Art Museum.
3 km course:
Sæmundargata, Hringbraut, Tjarnargata, Aðalstræti, Vesturgata, Framnesvegur, Brekkustígur, Holtsgata, Seljavegur, Mýrargata and Geirsgata.
1.4 km course:
Sæmundargata, Hringbraut, Tjarnargata, Aðalstræti, Vesturgata, Grófin, Tryggvagata and Geirsgata.
Participants
The Fun Run is suitable for everyone, young and old. Runners can have a stroller or carriage however, we kindly ask to stay in the back during the start and to proceed with caution. All participants must be registered and have their bib number visible as those that do not have a bib number will not be allowed on the course. Runners are allowed to have a bib number from a different distance, if they have already finished the 10K i.e.

There is a refreshment station after the run, in front of the church, Fríkirkja with drinks from Ölgerðin.

Prizes
Everyone that crosses the finish line and has a bib number from the Fun Run category receives a finisher medal.
