SLF - Benefit Society for Children with Disabilities was established in 1952 to support and care for children and young people diagnosed with polio. SLF has since paved the way in for disabled children, youth and their families. Today, SLF's thriving activities are reflected in its services at Æfingastöðin Rehabilitation Center and Camp Reykjadalur. About 1,800 families use the services of SLF each year.

Our mission is to promote the participation of children and young people in society, with an emphasis on the opportunities for disabled children and their families to participate in leisure and cultural life, live a safe and healthy life, and develop their identity, talents and skills.

SLF emphasizes on equal human rights and the recognition of diversity. Respect for the rights of children, families and people with disabilities is the foundation of all activities of the association, which are aimed at supporting opportunities to promote participation and development.
