Villikettir was founded five years ago. The organization has grown considerably and there are now branches in six locations around Iceland.
The main purpose of Villikettir is to control the population of feral cats, using the TNR method. TNR stands for trap-neuter-return, which means the cats are captured, neutered, and then returned to their previous location. Volunteers then feed and nurture them.
In addition, Villikettir also traps stray cats and kittens. The cats are advertised and if no owner is found, a new home is found for them.
Villikettir is a volunteer organization that relies on contributions from animal friends. With growing activities, there is a growing need for funding.
